Who is Converge Health Iowa?
Converge Health Iowa is Iowa's designated Health Information Exchange (HIE) operator. We build and maintain the data infrastructure that allows healthcare organizations across Iowa to securely share patient information, coordinate care, and meet public health reporting obligations. Behind every data feed is a patient and a provider who depends on it. That is what drives our work.
Why is there a new HIE and what does that mean for participants?
CyncHealth was the HIE operator in Iowa and has discontinued HIE services. Converge Health Iowa was selected through a competitive RFP process and has formally begun operations as the successor HIE in March 2026. Our immediate focus is stabilizing services, restoring secure data access, and ensuring continuity of care remains the top priority. If your organization was connected under CyncHealth, our team will work directly with you on next steps.
Is Converge Health Iowa a state agency?
No. We are an Iowa-based nonprofit organization designated by the State of Iowa under Iowa Code Chapter 135D to administer and operate the statewide HIE. We operate under contract with Iowa HHS and are accountable to the state and to our participants through a governed structure focused on responsible stewardship of health data.
