Iowa law and federal program requirements obligate healthcare organizations to report specific data to public health agencies on an ongoing basis. The Iowa State Designated HIE streamlines that process by serving as the conduit between participating organizations and the Iowa Department of Public Health, reducing the manual burden on hospital and clinic staff.
What We Support
Converge Health Iowa currently facilitates two public health reporting functions:
Electronic Laboratory Reporting (ELR)
Laboratory results that meet reportable condition criteria are transmitted electronically from participating organizations to public health authorities through the HIE. No manual intervention required on the reporting end.
Syndromic Surveillance
Chief complaint and encounter data are transmitted from participating emergency departments to public health agencies, enabling early detection of disease trends and outbreak patterns across the state.
